How To Fix Hard Disk Bad Sector

We know that if our hard drive has bad sectors, the performance and capacity of the HDD will decline, it would have been very annoying to us as users. Although usually we do not realize this because the effect is not felt directly. Bad Sector was divided into two, the Hard and Soft Bad Sector. Hard Bad Sector is due to permanent physical damage so we can't fix it, for example, damage in the head hard drive. Whereas, we can fix the soft bad sector because the damage only occurs in the system contained in the HDD.

So, how to fix bad sectors on the hard drive?
There are two ways:

• Using the default features of Windows 
• Using the tools / software. 

Using Error Checking feature 

This method is quite simple and does not need to use additional applications and only use the inherent features that already exist in Windows XP Operating System, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1.

Please follow these steps:

• Open My Computer or Your Windows Explorer. 
• Next on the hard drive that we want to fix the bad sector, right-click and select Properties. 
• Once the properties window will appear that we select HDD. 
• Click the Tools tab and then select or click the check now on the error checking menu 

If the next question opened, select yes checking process, bad sectors repairing process will run.

Note:

Please note also that this method can not be used to delete a virus or Malware such as Sality or shortcut.

Using Application SpinRite Version 6 

The first method is fairly easy, but usually the result is less accurate. If you want the correct result, we recommend using this application, SpinRite V6. SpinRite is actually an application to recover lost data but it also can perform repairs bad sectors on the hard disk.

Preparation

We should provide these items:

• CD / DVD or flash (empty) 
• PC 
• SpinRite v6 applications. Download the application here. 

Run Program

• Run SpinRite V6
  
• Choose Create ISO or IMG File if you want to do the process through CD/DVD, or Choose Install SpinRite on Drive if you want to do the process through Flashdisk, choose the flashdisk and the program will install bootable spinrite, the click close if the process has finished
• Shut down the computer, plug the device (CD/DVD/Flashdisk) in the computer. Start Up
• Go to BIOS Menu, choose the Boot Priority to CD/DVD or Removable Disk
• Your computer will do booting SprinRite
  
• After optimizing the settings, Choose level 5 in action
  
• There will be an option the disk you want to recover the sector. Choose one
  
• The process is running. Wait until it finished
  
• When the process finished, the program should be like the image below
  

The process finished. Restart the computer and change the boot priority
