Praying To God : How to Make Our Praying Granted

This is a famous story in ancient times. It revealed a secret how to make our prayers granted by God. Hopefully at the end of this story, we can take a lesson and practice a very easy way that make our prayers be granted by Allah.

Once a day long ago, Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal who was known as a great, well know scholar in the city of Baghdad (Iraq) has traveled to a city far from his residence. Arriving the city, it was already dusk.

Then Imam Ahmad find a mosque and perform maghrib prayer in congregation in the mosque. Because the distance between maghrib and isha prayer is not too far away, Imam Ahmad decided to wait for Isha prayers at the mosque.

After finishing Isha prayers, Imam Ahmad decided to return to Baghdad. Yet somehow, he felt tired and decided to spend the night in the mosque until tomorrow.

But apparently while he was sleeping, Imam Ahmad woken by the mosque guards. It seems that the guard mosque did not know him.
Although he has repeatedly persuaded the mosque guards to allow him to spend the night in the mosque, unfortunately he didn't. Imam Ahmad forbidden to sleep in the mosque and he was told to leave the mosque.

Imam Ahmad then looks elsewhere. Near the mosque there is a baker. He calls Imam Ahmad to get into his house. Although he does not recognize Imam Ahmad, he gladly invite Imam Ahmad to get into his house, and offered Imam Ahmad to rest in his home until tomorrow.

Imam Ahmad then accepted the offer and decided to rest in his home. Although he did not know that he is Imam Ahmad, a renowned scholar who we told at the beginning, the baker still entertain the guests like a special guest.

Whenever Imam Ahmad invited talk, the baker was always serve him even though he was busy preparing his bread for the next day.

But Imam Ahmad was very attracted his habit. He always did when he worked relentlessly. He has never stopped saying istighfar (asking forgiveness to god). This habit makes Imam Ahmad was very impressed.

Then the next day Imam Ahmad was very curious and then questioned him.

"Last night I heard the chanting Istighfar that you always read when you work through the night. Tell me, O lord, if you get benefits every time you say istighfar? "

"Indeed I have a lot of benefit from reading istighfar. I was getting used to istighfar, all my wishes granted by God. But until now there is one that God hasn't granted it to me. "

"What's that?" Asked Imam Ahmad

Then the baker said, "I ask God to meet Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal!"

Hearing this, then Imam Ahmad increasingly understand the wisdom of why he was expelled from the mosque overnight. God has possessed another scenario that is extraordinary. God wants to grant his prayer.
