6. Pocahontas - Matoaka
Indian princess Pocahontas story romanticized by Disney actually has a small name Matoaka. Pocahontas was only one nickname used by tribes Matoaka and John Rolfe, her husband later.
Like the story of the film, Matoaka did meet John Smith. But there was no romance that characterizes the relationship, because at that time Matoaka still a kid.
Matoaka was arrested by British while conquest of the Indians by the British in 1613. Later, Matoaka converted to Christianity and changed her name to Rebecca after marrying John Rolfe, tobacco businessman in 1615.
